Safe Ride (“Safe Ride,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Safe Ride Rider and Safe Ride Captain mobile applications and the website at saferide-eg.com (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our Services.

1. Who we are

Safe Ride is a ride-hailing platform based in Egypt, built to provide safer transportation options for women, children, and families. We connect riders with independent captain drivers through our mobile apps.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

Account information: name, phone number, email address, profile photo, gender, and password or authentication credentials.
Captain verification information: government ID, driving license, vehicle registration, and other documents required for driver onboarding.
Payment information: wallet top-ups, transaction history, and payment method details processed through our payment partners. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
Communications: messages with captains or support, complaints, ratings, and feedback.
Emergency contacts: contacts you choose to add for safety features such as SOS alerts and trip sharing.

2.2 Information collected automatically

Location data: precise and approximate location when you use the app, including pickup and drop-off points, route information, and captain location during active trips. Location may be collected in the background while you are online or on an active ride, as permitted by your device settings.
Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, language preference, crash logs, and interaction with app features.
Push notification tokens: used to send ride updates, safety alerts, and service messages.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

create and manage your account;
match riders with captains and facilitate bookings, payments, and trip completion;
display live trip tracking and share trip status with contacts you authorize;
verify captain identity and eligibility;
process payments, refunds, wallet transactions, and cancellation fees;
provide customer support and respond to complaints;
send transactional notifications, safety alerts, and service updates;
improve app performance, security, and user experience;
detect fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms;

4. How we share information

We may share information in the following circumstances:

Between riders and captains: limited profile and trip details needed to complete a ride (for example, name, photo, pickup location, vehicle details, and contact options during an active trip).
With service providers: cloud hosting, maps, analytics, payment processing, SMS/OTP delivery, push notifications, and customer support tools that process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.
For safety and legal reasons: when required by law, court order, or government request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect users, investigate fraud, or enforce our policies.
Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Location data

Location is essential to our Services. You can control location permissions through your device settings, but some features (including booking and live tracking) will not work without location access. Captains may need background location while available or on trip to provide accurate pickup and safety features.

6. Children and families

Safe Ride is designed with family safety in mind. Accounts must be created by a person with legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If a parent or guardian books rides for a child, the account holder remains responsible for the booking and the child’s use of the Service. 7. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal requirements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal profile data, subject to retention of certain records such as completed trip history, invoices, payment records, fraud-prevention logs, and information required by applicable law.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:

access and update your profile information in the app;
delete your account through the app or by contacting us;
opt out of non-essential marketing communications;
control location, notification, and camera permissions on your device;
request information about how we process your data.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and secure authentication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your information may be processed in Egypt and in other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Services, you consent to such processing subject to this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

11. Third-party links and services

The Services may contain links to third-party websites or integrate third-party services (such as maps or payment gateways). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.
